What we do and why..
We sell high-end food items which are nearing or past their best before dates. We seek luxury & food speciality items that otherwise might be prohibitively expensive.
Gluten Free, Vegan & Diabetic products are a need for many people and not a luxury per say but the price of many of these items can be excessive. Furthermore, Organic foods might be an ethical & personal health choice that simply costs too much to pursue when shopping in the local store.
We never know what product lines we will get, or whether they will be available for long because obviously batches of date stamped items become available temporarily vanishing never to be seen again in many cases. So, if you are interested in an item here, be quick to reserve it and save yourself disappointment!
We have built our business on two primary principles:
1) Reducing the amount of food waste in the UK by keeping food out of landfill sites. Retailers and manufacturers often think the food is non-saleable just because it's near its best before date.
2) Saving our customers money by selling most of our products at 50% or less than its original retail price.
We think this is a simple and clear mission; it doesn't get much more complicated than that. We even offer a no quibble money back guarantee, if you're not happy just let us know and we will replace or refund your purchase, no question.
We don't sell anything which has a use by date. We sell processed & dried foods (jars & snacks etc.) which have been produced in controlled manufacturing environments and have an advisory best before date. This refers to the point in time when the product will be at its best quality. After this point, the product may lose some flavour or colour but is still perfectly safe to eat. And as we have said if you are not completely satisfied we'll happily replace or refund.

Use By..
This is the cut-off after which it is not considered safe to eat the food.
Best Before..
This is very different to a use by date. This indicates the period for which a food can reasonably be expected to retain its optimal condition, but eating anything past this date won't cause any health issues.
Products can outlast their best before date by years (in the case of tinned food) and still be safe for consumption. There may be a slight degradation in quality (as the 'best before' name implies), but no real bacterial risk.
Display By and Sell By..
These dates are instructions to the retailer to aid stock rotation. They aren't directives to the consumer, but guidelines for shops on how long the products should stay on the shelf. In short these labels are for shops, not consumers, so you can ignore them.
By eating food that is past its best before (but not its use by) date, we can reduce food waste and save money.
